Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Tatum

Tatum barely beat Gladewater the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Tatum's pitcher stepped up to hand Gladewater a 13-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Whiteus, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Cayden Tatum was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Tatum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gladewater only posted an OBP of .250.

The win (which was Tatum's sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gladewater, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tatum will take on rival West Rusk at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gladewater is set to square off against their familiar foe White Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gladewater 3.4, White Oak 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
