The West Holmes Knights pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Wooster on the road by a decisive 72-55 margin. West Holmes was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wooster apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why West Holmes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Sprang. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Collier Cline, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, West Holmes were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Anthony Carmean was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 15 points. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Ethan Shetler was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
West Holmes are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Wooster, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.
West Holmes will be home for the holidays to greet Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Holmes in Ohio (Mt. Vernon is ranked 351st, while West Holmes is ranked 766th). Wooster won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Revere at 4:15 p.m. on December 16th.
