Given Boca Raton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Somerset Academy - Canyons is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alana Pinnock, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. Pinnock is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanna Fabrini, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Boca Raton and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Boca Raton will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Nazareth at 12:30 p.m. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they will head out on the road to face off against Seminole Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
