Hobart is 1-8 against Andrean since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hobart Brickies are on the road again and plays the Andrean Fighting 59ers at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hobart has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Hobart, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-50 loss to Valparaiso. Hobart has struggled against Valparaiso recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Hobart's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Felix Lopez, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, and Anthony Hnilo who scored 22 points. Hnilo continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Andrean ended up a good deal behind Crown Point on Tuesday and lost 73-54. While losing is never fun, Andrean can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Crown Point is ranked 21st).
Hobart's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8. As for Andrean, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Hobart came up short against Andrean in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 50-43. Can Hobart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
