Villa Grove is 4-0 against Heritage since February of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Villa Grove Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Hawks at 7:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Villa Grove pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine. Villa Grove has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Heritage's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 72-51 defeat at the hands of Arthur-Okaw Christian. Heritage has not had much luck with Arthur-Okaw Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Rylan White scored 27 points. White scored a full 52.9% of Heritage's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Clark Roland was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Even though they lost, Heritage were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Villa Grove has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Heritage, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Villa Grove beat Heritage 51-42 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Heritage's Julliyan Gray, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Villa Grove to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
