Despite the loss, Fuquay - Varina had strong showings from Abdou Diop, who scored 19 points, and Nathan Mathew, who scored 11 points. Diop is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Garner entered their tilt with the Comets with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Garner walked away with a 68-60 victory over the Comets on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fuquay - Varina has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Garner, their win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6.
