After only 13 points in their last matchup, Mitchell made sure to put some points up on the board against McDowell on Friday. The Mountaineers strolled past the Titans with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The Mountaineers haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Mitchell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Isaiah Turner, Hayden Webb, and Colton Burleson, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why McDowell lost, don't look at Danny Charles Brown. Despite the final result, he threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Jordan Barnett handled things on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

The win got Mitchell back to even at 1-1. As for McDowell, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McDowell, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Avery County at 7:30 p.m. on September 12.
