If the Wootton Patriots were riding high off their 70-48 takedown of the Freedom Eagles on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wootton's tough 66-40 loss to Landstown on Friday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wootton has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Wootton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaiden Aze. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Aze has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played.
Wootton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Landstown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wootton will take on Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethesda-Chevy Chase is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Landstown and Cox will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cox is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
