They took down Berkeley Prep 55-38. Given Wesley Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wesley Chapel found their leader in underclassman Sanai Forrester-Jhagroo, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Dayla Christopher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Berkeley Prep still got an impressive performance from Maddie Dean, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Stowell, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Wesley Chapel has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Berkeley Prep, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Wesley Chapel will take on the Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Pasco has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21. As for Berkeley Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
