After flying high against the CSTHEA P Patriots last Saturday, the Soddy Daisy Trojans came back down to earth. Soddy Daisy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-44 loss to they on Friday. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Red Bank is ranked 66th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Red Bank to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendrick Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Bonner, who scored 14 points.
Soddy Daisy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Red Bank, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soddy Daisy will play host again and welcome Rhea County, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Rhea County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Soddy Daisy likes a good challenge. As for Red Bank, they will be playing at home against East Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Hamilton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22.
