The Morgan Trojans will take on the Union Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Morgan is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Morgan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Providence Hall 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 11th.
Eva Birkeland made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Hardman, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Kassidy Wardell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Morgan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 17 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Union duked it out with Richfield on Thursday. The Cougars skirted past the Wildcats 10-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
Haylee Moynier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Payzlei Parrish was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Teddy Oleen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Morgan's record now sits at 18-6. As for Union, their record is now 18-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morgan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .436. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Morgan took their win against Union in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
