The Bishop Manogue Miners's game on Tuesday was all tied up 27-27 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Damonte Ranch by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, Bishop Manogue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Damonte Ranch is ranked fifth).
Despite the loss, Bishop Manogue saw an underclassman step up: James Williams scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamahl Jackson, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bishop Manogue smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Jace Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds for Damonte Ranch. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Jeriah Macias was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and two steals.
Bishop Manogue has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Manogue will take on Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Douglas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Bishop Manogue likes a good challenge. As for Damonte Ranch, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Reed at 7:00 p.m. Reed is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
