The Decatur Golden Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 62-50 to Mt. Rainier. Decatur has not had much luck with Mt. Rainier recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Decatur's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominique Degrate, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Jahrion Modica was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Zach Luz, who scored 38 points along with nine rebounds and three steals for Mt. Rainier. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Keane, who scored 13 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Mt. Rainier, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Decatur will take on Federal Way at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Federal Way's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games. As for Mt. Rainier, they will play host again and welcome Tahoma, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tahoma is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
