While Clark couldn't topple Rancho on Friday, it's impossible to ignore the impact made by underclassman Sophia DeMonbrun. DeMonbrun wasn't messing around, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). The pitching appearance was her seventh straight with five or more strikeouts.

Looking ahead, DeMonbrun and Clark will take on Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Sadly, DeMonbrun's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Chargers' four-game streak of wins on the road.
