Porter is 0-7 against Lopez since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Porter Cowboys will head out to challenge the Lopez Lobos at 5:30 p.m. Porter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Lopez's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Porter was handed a 14-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Edcouch-Elsa 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mia Sosa made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Cortez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Selene Garcia also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lopez). Everything went their way against Donna on Monday as Lopez made off with a 17-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lobos considering their one-run performance the game before.
Like Porter, Lopez also got a great game from a two-way player: Chalene Granado. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Granado was also big at the plate, firing off three runs, three doubles, and three RBI while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Jenny Shank was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Ferni Pulido, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.
Lopez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lopez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Porter's record now sits at 7-4.
