Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Virgin Valley

Virgin Valley extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 19-6 in the process. They put the hurt on the Democracy Prep Agassi Campus Blue Knights with a sharp 16-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won 15 matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Julia Leavitt made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ilene Sandoval was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mercades Jordan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Virgin Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. They are 18-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 15 runs.

On Democracy Prep Agassi Campus' side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyviah Liggin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Coincidentally, Virgin Valley and Democracy Prep Agassi Campus will both be playing Moapa Valley the next time they take the field. The Blue Knights will host the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
