After a string of five wins, the Trinity Lutheran Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Trinity Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Christian Academy is ranked 111th).
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Levi Pottschmidt, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kowan Gross, who scored 12 points.
It was another big night for David Cook, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds for Christian Academy. Joshua Renfro was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Trinity Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Lutheran's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lanesville at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Trinity Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday. As for Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against West Washington at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. West Washington is coming into the matchup with three straight losses at home, meaning Christian Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
