The Desert Ridge Jaguars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Camelback out 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Desert Ridge has posted yet this season.
Payton Lapping was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Major Wootan, who scored 12 points.
Camelback lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kofi Idris, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Idris is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Ideran, who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals.
Desert Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Camelback, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Gilbert presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Desert Ridge in Arizona (Gilbert is ranked 47th, while Desert Ridge is ranked 171st). Camelback won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Alhambra is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
