Despite the loss, St. Andrew's Episcopal had strong showings from Abby Ireland, who had 17 digs, and Ava Croft, who had 18 kills, nine digs, and two aces. Croft is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Addie LaRose also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Meanwhile, Union faced Newton County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Union sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 15-10.
St. Andrew's Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 24-10.
