The Indian River Braves will face off against the Green Run Stallions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Indian River is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Booker T. Washington with a sharp 31-9 win. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Mighty Bookers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Brianna Morse made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morse was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Indian River let Avery Ward and Ryann Moore run wild. Ward scored five runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Moore fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiasia Green, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Green Run made sure to put some runs up on the board against Booker T. Washington on Friday. Green Run was the clear victor by a 24-1 margin over Booker T. Washington. Considering the Stallions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Like Indian River, Green Run also got a great game from a two-way player: Chyann Soule. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Soule was also big at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Caleigh Sgambelluri was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Jade Zabala was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Indian River couldn't quite finish off Green Run when the teams last played back in May of 2016 and fell 4-2. Can Indian River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
