Basketball Recap: Spirit HomeSchool Comes Up Short

Spirit HomeSchool came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions and fell 70-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warhawks of the 74-51 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Greater Cabarrus S' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashton Arrowood led the charge by putting up 17 points. Arrowood's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Teddy Helton III, who posted 17 points.

With the defeat, Spirit HomeSchool broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Greater Cabarrus S, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 27-9.

Spirit HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against KACHEA at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Greater Cabarrus S is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
