The Marquette Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge the Yorkville Christian Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
After a string of four wins, Marquette's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Serena by a score of 50-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marquette in their matchups with the Huskers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Yorkville Christian pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morris. While losing is never fun, Yorkville Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Redskins are ranked 186th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Danielle Bulson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Wallin, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.
Marquette's record is now 17-9. As for Yorkville Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
