The Lake Havasu Knights lost against the Desert Mountain Wolves back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lake Havasu took a 37-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Desert Mountain. Lake Havasu has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Lake Havasu still got an impressive performance from Lexi Tuinstra, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Tuinstra is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Desert Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adyson Lundberg, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lundberg has scored all season. Nicolette Kelly was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Desert Mountain used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Lake Havasu. Three players hit the court for the first time this season: Marah Williamson, kirah hall, and Savannah Neel. Hall made the most of the opportunity, scoring three points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Lake Havasu has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Desert Mountain, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Havasu will square off against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lake Havasu focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Desert Mountain, they will head out on the road to take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Mountain is coming into the matchup with ten straight wins on the road, meaning Cactus Shadows will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
