The Ithaca Yellowjackets will take on the Nouvel Catholic Central Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Ithaca's last matchup with Chesaning could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets lost 10-4 to the Indians. The loss continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.
Ithaca saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Thrush, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Koal Duflo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Nouvel Catholic Central narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Carrollton 6-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Cam Kaul made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Nouvel Catholic Central is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Kaul was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Carlson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Vance, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Ithaca's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Nouvel Catholic Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
