Marco Island Academy is 9-1 against Everglades City since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Marco Island Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Marco Island Academy pushed their score all the way to 73, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 81-73 to Seacrest Country Day. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marco Island Academy in their matchups with Seacrest Country Day: they've now lost nine in a row.
Marco Island Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nick Sadler, who scored 25 points along with six steals. Sadler set a new season high mark in steals with six. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Jones, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Marco Island Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Naples Classical scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Everglades City still came out on top. Everglades City managed a 63-59 win over Naples Classical. 63 seems to be a good number for Everglades City as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Marco Island Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Everglades City, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Marco Island Academy beat Everglades City 74-61 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marco Island Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
