After a string of four wins, the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were beaten by Phoenix Country Day 55-21. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy has struggled against Phoenix Country Day recently, as their game on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: Ellina Bilstrom scored nine points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Hurley, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Phoenix Country Day was led to victory by Aila Kaibara and Olivia Owens. Kaibara scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Owens scored 18 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Owens is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Madison Gordon was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Phoenix Country Day, their win was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Red Rock the next time they take the court. Phoenix Country Day will host Red Rock at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
