The Valley View Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Berwick Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Valley View sitting on five straight victories and Berwick on 13.
If Montrose wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Valley View, they should've done a better job of containing Layla Marino. The Cougars skirted past the Meteors 3-2 thanks in part to Marino, who had 15 digs, 13 kills, and six aces. She has been hot, having posted five or more aces the last seven times she's played.
The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 24-26, 26-24, 25-27, 17-15.

Valley View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hanarra Semedo-Timas, who had 13 kills, eight blocks, and four digs. Those four digs gave Semedo-Timas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hallock, who had ten digs and four aces.
Valley View was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Berwick got the win against Pittston on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Berwick took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-4, 25-9.
Valley View better focus on containing Julia Rauch and Angie Colone as the pair were huge in Berwick's win. Rauch had 28 assists and eight digs, while Colone had 11 kills and ten digs. Brylee Weaver was another key player, getting six aces and three digs.
Valley View's record is now 8-10. As for Berwick, their record now sits at 15-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Valley View has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12.7 aces per game.
