Baseball Game Preview: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Mattamuskeet Lakers

For the second straight game, Hobgood Charter will face off against Mattamuskeet. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lakers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hobgood Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Hobgood Charter barely beat Mattamuskeet the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders never let the Lakers get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

ETHAN GARNER made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hobgood Charter is undefeated when GARNER posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, CONNER ROBERSON was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was BRAYDEN BLAKLEY, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hobgood Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mattamuskeet only posted an OBP of .105.

Hobgood Charter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Mattamuskeet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
