The Darien Blue Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Staples at home by a decisive 61-45 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Darien has scored all season.
Staples found their leader in underclassman Sam Clachko, who scored 30 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clachko has scored at least a third of Staples' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Sikorski, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Darien's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Staples, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Darien will take on Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trumbull has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 745 points over their last 11 matches. As for Staples, they will be playing at home against Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenwich is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
