Hunter Englehart went supernova for Red Cloud, rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 25 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Red Cloud was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewiston only rushed for 28.
Red Cloud's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Mason Bolin and Kayden Furr.
Lewiston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Everett Bohling, who threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown. Lewiston also got help from Brock Janssen, who showed off his sure hands for 122 receiving yards.
Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will square off against Diller-Odell at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewiston, they will take on Meridian on Friday. Hopefully Lewiston focused on turnovers this week as team gave up five on Friday.
