Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, First Baptist Academy ended up a good deal behind the Heritage Classical Christian Academy Hawks and lost 45-29. While losing is never fun, First Baptist Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 409th in Illinois, while Heritage Classical Christian Academy is ranked third in Missouri).

Leading Heritage Classical Christian Academy to victory were Luke Heskett and Trip Taylor. Heskett dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Taylor went 7 of 12 on his way to 21 points and five steals. The game was Taylor's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gray, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

First Baptist Academy dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Heritage Classical Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

First Baptist Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Westfair Christian at 7:00 p.m. Westfair Christian's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so First Baptist Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Heritage Classical Christian Academy, they will challenge Victory Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
