Central strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lighthouse Private Christian Academy Stingrays a 17-0 shutout. 17 seems to be a good number for the Jaguars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Shelby Zigler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tenley Smarr, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Mali Kilpatrick was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Central's record is now 9-0. As for Lighthouse Private Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Central will venture away from home to square off against Escambia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Lighthouse Private Christian Academy, they will take on Pine Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stingrays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.6 runs per game this season.
