The Calera Eagles had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Chilton County by a score of 66-59 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marshall Thornhill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justin Godwin, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Calera's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-20. As for Chilton County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 12-14.
Calera will challenge Benjamin Russell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin Russell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Calera likes a good challenge. As for Chilton County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marbury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marbury is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
