Bloomington has won five straight games at home, while Colton has won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bruins will welcome the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Bloomington's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
Bloomington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Rim of the World 20-8 on Thursday. Considering the Bruins have won four games by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Bloomington gave Stacy Lopez the start and clearly made the right call: she tossed one inning while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Kaja Wright was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2025. Bella Benavidez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Bloomington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Colton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Summit 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted against the SkyHawks since April 23, 2018.
ANDREA VARELA made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). VARELA was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on SADIE RODRIGUEZ, who went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was JOCELYN ORNELAS, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Bloomington's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Colton, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bloomington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Colton struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bloomington couldn't quite finish off Colton in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 13-11. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
