After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mexia, The Teague Lions were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over Groesbeck. The result was nothing new for Teague, who have now won four matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Zak Leija was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 155 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes. Teague also got a significant boost from Shamar Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Teague's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Groesbeck, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Teague will head out on the road to face off against Kemp at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kemp comes in on a streak of failing to score more than three points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Groesbeck, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eustace at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eustace is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
