Baseball Recap: Sammamish Has No Trouble Against Evergreen

Sammamish won the last time they faced Evergreen and things went their way on Wednesday too. The RedHawks were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Wolverines. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Josh Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ozzie Turner was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayne Castillo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sammamish was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evergreen only posted a batting average of .136.

Sammamish's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Evergreen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sammamish will face off against rival Lindbergh at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Evergreen is set to take on their familiar foe Cedarcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
