Arlington is 1-7 against Platte Valley since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will face off against Platte Valley at 4:30 p.m. Arlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Arlington was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Platteview, sneaking past 4-3.
Arlington secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Nolan Frauendorfer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Frauendorfer a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Platte Valley never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Palmyra. The result was nothing new for Platte Valley, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jack Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Cael Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Hunter Hatzenbuelher was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Platte Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmyra only posted an OBP of .125.
Platte Valley's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Arlington, their record is now 10-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Arlington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Platte Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arlington suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Platte Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
