The Normangee Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Centerville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Normangee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1128th, while Centerville is ranked 378th).
Last Friday, Normangee had to suffer through a rough 56-19 loss at the hands of Groveton.
Meanwhile, Centerville entered their tilt with Leon with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Centerville simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Leon 56-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Centerville, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Andrew Newman had a dynamite game for Centerville, rushing for 200 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries. Newman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Pearson, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Centerville's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Zantayl Holley and Amarius Phillips who racked up six sacks between them.
Groveton's win bumped their season record to 5-3 while Normangee's loss dropped theirs to 1-7.
Normangee was dealt a bruising 56-0 loss at the hands of Centerville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Normangee, Paxton Hancock (who rushed for 157 yards and five touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
