The Rich Rebels scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They managed a 57-51 victory over Cokeville. The victory was all the more spectacular given Rich's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 85th in Utah, while Cokeville is ranked second in Wyoming).
Leading Rich to victory were Braylyn Pugmire and Violett Taylor. Pugmire scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Taylor scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Taylor scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Weston, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Rich pushed their record up to 3-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Cokeville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rich will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Summit at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Cokeville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Burlington at 2:00 p.m. on December 15th.
