This season hasn't been kind to the Raymond Central Mustangs, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They fell 52-39 to Weeping Water on Thursday. Raymond Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Weeping Water apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reid Otto, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. Colton Dubas was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Weeping Water can attribute much of their success to Sayler Rhodes, who scored 19 points along with seven steals. Rhodes is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Mcgill, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Raymond Central's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Weeping Water, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Raymond Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer at 2:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Weeping Water, they will play host again and welcome Falls City, where tip off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
