Derek Douglas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Douglas was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isaiah Peterson-Pruitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Quinton Gildon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ben Davis lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Brownsburg rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 3-0 shutout. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Drew Jennings looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Brownsburg's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colin McNeer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Ben Davis' win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Brownsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ben Davis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ben Davis suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Brownsburg in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
