Volleyball Recap: Lanier's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Lanier's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Brackenridge Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for the Voks as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

Lanier walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20.

Lanier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from M'Alayshia Brown, who had 26 assists and one block. Those 26 assists gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Tobar, who had 13 digs and six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Brackenridge lost, don't look at Mya Alfaro. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and three assists. Alfaro is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Lanier's win bumped their record up to 11-18. As for Brackenridge, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-25.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lanier is set to face off against their familiar foe Sam Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brackenridge will square off against rival Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
