Roger Bacon gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They came out on top against the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS by a score of 3-0. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Roger Bacon got a great performance from Robby Brenner as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Brenner posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Powers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Childress, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Madeira now has a losing record of 1-2.
Looking ahead, Roger Bacon will face off against Mariemont at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madeira, they will take on Summit Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
