Raton is 2-8 against West Las Vegas since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the West Las Vegas Dons at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Raton and five for West Las Vegas.
Last Friday, Raton was beaten by St. Michael's 70-40.
Meanwhile, West Las Vegas pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-58 to Santa Fe Indian. The matchup was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but West Las Vegas couldn't quite close it out.
C.j. Perea put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of P.j. Montano, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Raton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for West Las Vegas, they dropped their record down to 13-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Raton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-53 loss to West Las Vegas in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Montano, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Now that Raton knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
