Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Southeast Valley should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Spirit Lake at 7:00 PM. The teams have set a high bar for this contest after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests.
Their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Southeast Valley, but their most recent match may have softened the blow. They put the hurt on Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS with a sharp 36-13 win. The high-flying offensive effort was a definite turnaround from Southeast Valley's flat performance the matchup before.
Meanwhile, Spirit Lake simply couldn't be stopped last Friday, as they easily beat Lincoln Central 42-0. Followers of Spirit Lake probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected four blowout victories.
Their wins bumped Southeast Valley to 3-2 and Spirit Lake to 5-0. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
