Emery is 1-9 against Canyon View since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will square off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Emery is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Morgan 10-3. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on four straight.

Hayden Abrams made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Abrams was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Emery: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 9-16 otherwise.
In other batting news, Peyton Nielson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Canyon View won against Ogden on Friday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over North Sanpete. Considering the Falcons have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Emery, Canyon View also got a great game from a two-way player: Zach Maine. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Maine has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chandler McClellan was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Asher Slack was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Canyon View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .531 or higher in three consecutive games.
Emery's record now sits at 11-17. As for Canyon View, their record is now 23-5.
Emery suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Canyon View in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
