Two dominant backs in Junior Curtis and Luke Jorgensen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lincoln Hornets will be playing at home against the Poway Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups.
Lincoln is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Scripps Ranch: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Hornets blew the Falcons out of the water with a 49-13 final score. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Lincoln had a senior duo take command as King David Christopher-Dunn picked up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Kainan Manna threw for 90 yards and three TDs on only eight passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Lincoln proved: they limited Scripps Ranch to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Prince Tavizon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lincoln didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Poway walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons on Friday, sneaking past 27-24.
Lincoln better keep an eye on Noah Schuback. He was instrumental in Poway's win, rushing for 80 yards and one score on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards Schuback has posted since back in August.
Poway didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Will Hawkins and Kaiden Reynolds.
Poway's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lincoln has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Poway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 169.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Poway in their previous matchup back in September of 2017, as the team secured a 50-13 win. In that game, the Hornets amassed a halftime lead of 22-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
