Madison Asafailo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with five RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Toronto got a massive performance out of Laney Danko, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. JJ Rebich was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Toronto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Indian Creek and Wheeling Park, and Wheeling Park kept the tradition alive. The Redskins fell 9-5 to the Patriots on Monday.
Riley Sadler and Emma Vok stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sadler got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Vok went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Toronto's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Indian Creek, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Toronto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Indian Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
