The Bard Falcons suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 63-38 defeat at the hands of King's Christian Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Bard came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 35th in District of Columbia, while King's Christian Academy is ranked 129th in Maryland).
Despite the loss, Bard saw an underclassman step up: Andre Wright scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaemon McNeil, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Diallo Long continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for King's Christian Academy, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Long hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Waller, who scored 16 points.
Bard has fallen quite a ways from their 24-7 record last season and are now at 3-13. As for King's Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bard's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southern Maryland Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 13th. Southern Maryland Christian Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for King's Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on National Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully National Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
