The Dieterich Movin Maroons fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Shelbyville Rams on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 63-60. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dieterich in their matchups with Shelbyville: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Dieterich lost, one person who can't be blamed is Miley Britton. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Ruby Westendorf was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Dieterich's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Shelbyville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.
Dieterich's road trip will continue as they head out to face Neoga at 2:30 p.m. on January 15th. Neoga knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Dieterich likes a good challenge. As for Shelbyville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Central A & M at 6:00 p.m.
